Youth and Family Ministry

“ There are two things we give our children. One is roots, the other is wings.”

Youth and Family Ministry

UniKids and UniTeens
Sundays, 11:00 a.m.
Location: Youth and Family Ministry Wing
Facilitator: Rev. Patricia Seeley

This month, our youth will be discovering the spiritual truth found in C.S. Lewis’s magical world, The Chronicles of Narnia. The first Narnia movie, “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” came out two years ago and was well received. The next movie,” The Prince of Caspian” opens this month.  Each Sunday (except Mother’s Day) our lesson will focus on the Narnia books/movies:

May 4:    Narnia Book 1:  “In the Beginning:  The Magician’s Nephew” & Book 2:  “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

May 11:  Mother’s Day – Special Project for our Moms and Grandmothers.

May 18:  Book 3:  “The Horse and His Boy” & Book 4:  “Prince Caspian.”

May 25 – Book 5: “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, Book 6:  “The Silver Chair” and book 7:  The Last Battle.”

Our sessions will include activities and games based on the series as well as group discussions of these ideas found in the books:

Book 1: How the Universal Nature of God/Spirit is revealed.
Book 2: The Consequences of our own actions
Book 3: What are the purposes of difficulties in our lives?  Is there such a thing as luck or coincidence?
Book 4: How we can find joy in any life challenge.
Book 5: Outer appearances and inner lives.
Book 6: Faith gives us the ability to live boldly – without fear.
Book 7: Will there be an end of the world?  What will happen?  When will it happen?

Great literature and great fun combined with spiritual exploration. It doesn’t get any better than that. Join us!

The Prayer of Faith

God is my help in every need.
God does my every hunger feed.
God walks beside me, guides my way
Through every moment of the day.
I now am wise, I now am true,
Patient, kind and loving too.
All things I am, can do, and be
Through Christ, the Truth that is in me.
God is my health, I can't be sick;
God is my strength, unfailing, quick;
God is my all; I know no fear,
Since God and love and Truth are here.
-- Hannah More Kohaus --

This is an example of what we teach in Youth Education. One of the rare audio recordings of our cofounder Myrtle Fillmore is of her reciting this poem.
